Teach Kids to Pray
Take heed that
ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven
their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven.
Matthew 18:10
Having family is good,
God created man and woman to be family and having a baby. So let’s teach your
kid to know Lord and feel blessing to be born in the earth.
How to teach kid to know about Lord? When the perfect time
to teach kid how to pray?
1Children can start
learning to pray even before they can speak in coherent sentences simply by
allowing them to see you praying and inviting them to pray with you as best
they can.
As with any good habit,
you'll want to start reinforcing prayer as a regular part of life as early as
possible. Once a child can communicate verbally, they can learn to pray on
their own either out loud or silently.1
Prayer is easy just teach
the kids how to make conversation with Father in heaven (Lord). Even you are still learn to be good Christian
but that is never late to teach them how to communication with God.
Let’s see, what the Bible
told us about pray. On Matthew 6:7 says,
"When you pray, don't babble on and on as people of other religions do.
They think their prayers are answered merely by repeating their words again and
again."
That’s mean we don’t need
any formula to pray with Lord. We can use our words to speak with Lord. For kid
you can teach the first simple words till they understand what they want to
make conversation with God.
Let’s Kids show you pray
Maybe you think kids
don’t need to see you when you are praying to the Lord. But honestly, in my
family we have time to worship in early morning and evening time before dinner
time.
Make little circle
between your family (father, mother and kids) to worship. When praying, try to keep the details and simple
words to your child's age level, so younger kids won't be scared by serious
situations.
2Longer prayers are better
taught to older children who can sit still for a few minutes. These are a great
way to teach them about God's all-encompassing greatness. Here's a good way to
model these prayers:
- Start off by thanking God for being with you and for providing for your family, thank Him for His great, unconditional love, and express your reverence for all that he is.
- Ask God to forgive your mistakes. James 5:16 says, "Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The earnest prayer of a righteous person has great power and produces wonderful results." (NLT)
- Then, either present your petitions to God, continue thanking and praising him for specific provisions and blessings, or do both.2
